On Nov. 21, Bruce, Joan, Spring and myself traveled to Red Rocks, NV for some awesome climbing
This is Bruce, geared to climb!
Here is Joan, on the rock and looking comfortable!
And Spring, who by the way went on to complete the Seattle marathon the following weekend.
We took off from the Seattle airport at 8:00 pm Thurs night, Nov. 21.
We got into Las Vegas around 10:00 pm and picked up our rental car.
On Friday we climbed popular "Cat in the Hat", a 6 pitch, 5.6 rock climb. Although we found out that the Red Rock ratings were a little different then the ones we were used to. The weather was chilly, maybe mid 40's, and windy. It was a cold, long day and not good for taking pictures. We got back to Vegas late, picking up a $50.00 fine for staying late at the park. By the time we had dinner and sorted gear, it was way past sleeping time.
The picture was taking on Sat. We had to bail off of a climb and rigged an interesting sort of semi-top rope arrangement to get some back.
Here is another shot. This route was in the shade all day and even with several layers on each, we were never warm.
Sunday it warmed up and we were in the sun most of the day. It is on this route that Bruce discovered the Quote of the Trip: "Undercling....undercling....undercling WHAT?" Here is Joan climbing on a parallel route.
Back in Vegas, Bruce gives thanks for a great trip (and the $7.95 all you can eat chicken and ribs buffet) |
